Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Sakani ("سكني") is a residential building management platform operated by Smart IT Buildings L.L.C., registered in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you use the Sakani mobile application and associated services.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the data required to operate the platform:

• Phone number — used to sign you in with a one-time SMS code
• Full name and profile photo — shown in your profile and to members of your building
• Identity details you enter during verification — national ID number, date of birth, gender, marital status, household size, and the expiry dates of your work permit, passport or residency where applicable
• Occupation permit or Goshan photos — uploaded during identity verification
• Building and unit association — your membership record linking you to a property
• Maintenance ticket and project photos — attachments you upload when submitting requests
• Your device location — only while you position your building on the map when registering it; we store the building’s pin, not your movements
• Device push token — used to deliver notifications to your device
• Crash and diagnostic data — device model, operating system version, app version and error traces, used to find and fix faults

3. Purpose of Processing

All collected data is used exclusively for residential building management operations, including: authenticating users, verifying identity and ownership, managing building memberships, processing maintenance requests, recording and collecting building contributions, delivering platform notifications, and keeping the app secure and working reliably.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. To run the service we rely on a small number of processors, each receiving only what its task needs:

• Supabase — hosts our database and sign-in service in the European Union (Ireland)
• Twilio — delivers the one-time SMS code to your phone number
• Expo Push Notification Service — receives your device push token to deliver the notifications you opted into
• Sentry — receives crash and diagnostic reports so we can fix faults; these reports never include your identity documents or financial records
• Google Maps Platform — receives the address text you type and map requests while you register a building
• Our licensed payment gateway — processes building subscription payments; card details are entered on the gateway’s own secure page and are never stored by Sakani

5. Visibility Within Your Building

Sakani is a shared record for a building. Members of your building, including its manager, can see your name, your unit and the building records you take part in, such as contributions, maintenance requests and votes. We disclose data to public authorities only where Jordanian law requires it.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for the lifetime of your active account. When you delete your account, your personal details are erased immediately and cannot be recovered. Entries already recorded in your building’s financial ledger are retained for as long as Jordanian accounting law requires, with your name removed from them.

7. Your Rights

You can view and correct your details in the app under Profile, and delete your account yourself at any time under Settings → Delete my account — no request to support is needed. You can also contact us at support@getsakani.com to access, correct or delete your data; we respond within 10 business days.

8. Children

Sakani is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational safeguards including: encryption of all data in transit via HTTPS/TLS, row-level security enforced at the database layer, and signed URLs with limited validity for all media access. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take every reasonable precaution.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes we will ask you to review and accept the updated policy in the app before you continue using Sakani.

12. Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amman, Jordan.
